Rev up your engines and grab some popcorn, because the races are coming to town again in Swift Current.

The tires will spin at the Swift Current airport, where the gates open at 8 a.m, and eliminations will likely begin around noon.

Al Kaufmann, the secretary of the Swift Current Drag Racing Association, encourages people to sign up, even if they haven’t had previous experience.

“It doesn’t have to be a fast car to race. You can go in the street class, which is more to do with you and your vehicle being consistent, as it’s a handicap racing system.”

This system describes a staggered start to allow drivers of slower vehicles to have a chance at showcasing their skill.

Concessions and bathrooms are on site, and while there are bleachers, it is recommended to bring a lawn chair due to the event's popularity.

Price to race basic is $80 for car and driver, while the junior, junior street and high school categories are $30 car and driver entry. $10 regular admission while children 12 and under get in free.
