Classrooms across the province will be quieter than usual today as teachers take more steps to make their voices heard.

The Saskatchewan Teachers Federation announced the second one-day provincewide strike last Thursday, two days after the first of its kind. According to a media release from the STF, teachers are seeking long-term commitments from government on critical issues impacting students, including class size and complexity.

Members in the southwest will be gathering at demonstration sites again, including outside of local MLA Everett Hindley's office in Swift Current and Jasper Street and Pacific Avenue in Maple Creek.

Class is expected to be back in session tomorrow and any further job action will be announced with 48 hours’ notice.

Swift Current Online will have more information as the day progresses.
