The Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame's Induction Ceremony that was scheduled for Sept. 26 of this year has been cancelled, and those inductees will be part of the class of 2021.

The board of directors made the 'difficult decision" to cancel this year's dinner and ceremony.

"The SSHF has been closely monitoring developments since social distancing protocols were put in place by the Government of Saskatchewan in March," a release from the organization said Tuesday. "The health and welfare of our inductees, their families and friends, patrons, staff, volunteers and suppliers remains front of mind."

The Hall said they wanted to ensure their inductees for 2020 would have an opportunity to come together with family, friends, teammates and supporters.

Any nominees for 2020 will have their eligibility extended a year. The nomination deadline for the 2021 class is Oct. 31, 2020.
