Shaun Meachem, Kelly Schafer and Chris and Teejay Haichert from the Swift Current Curling Club are one win away from claiming the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship on home ice after defeating Team Nova Scotia 9-4 in the semi-final on Saturday at Innovationplex.

Saskatchewan started fast with four unanswered points after three ends, and forced the Halifax team of Paul Flemming, Marlee Powers, Luke Saunders and Colleen Jones to a single in the fourth to hold a 4-1 lead at the break. Meachem started to pull away with four in the fifth end, but Nova Scotia pulled closer with three of their own in the sixth before Saskatchewan wrapped it up with a single in the seventh.

Meachem and his team will face Manitoba in the final, after Kyle Kurz and his team from Winnipeg defeated Scott McDonald and Team Ontario 6-5 in an extra end. Nova Scotia and Ontario will play for bronze at the same time as the gold medal final Saturday afternoon at 2:30pm.
