There was a serious collision over the weekend on the Trans-Canada Highway.

Happening just outside of Waldeck, the incident involved a semi-tractor trailer unit and some cattle who had gotten onto the road late at night.

Corporal James Countryman of the Swift Current Rural RCMP didn't have much information available but shared what was contained in the report.

"It was a vehicle versus several cows that were on the highway near Waldeck," shared Countryman. "Obviously, there's some damage to the cows."

Four cows out of the seven were confirmed as deceased, while the others were injured.

The driver of the truck and the single passenger were taken to hospital with reportedly only minor injuries.

The truck itself is destroyed, with the cab and engine compartment demolished.
