The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 40 has a day full of ceremonies and events scheduled for tomorrow in honour of Remembrance Day.

Southwest residents are invited to gather at the local branch at 10:30 a.m. for a speech, poem reading, and musical performance.

Following the morning service at 11 a.m., everyone will march to the cenotaph in Memorial Park for a laying of the wreaths and then are invited to head back to the legion for lunch.

Current President of Branch 40, Peter Illerbrun, has been a member along with his brothers since he was just 18 years old.

"My dad was in the service, and I have uncles that were, too," he said. "I just find it very important that everybody and the kids nowadays remember sacrifices that our veterans have made. It's always going to be an ongoing very important thing."

The evening picks up again with a dinner back at the legion at 6 p.m. and a dance afterwards, with tickets available to purchase at Western Financial.
