The number of active cases of COVID-19 dropped back down under the century mark again in the Sask Health Authority's latest update Friday afternoon.

The SHA announced five new cases and 12 new recoveries, lowering the total number of active cases from 106 to 99.

Of the five new cases, one was reported in the south region for the first time since April 5. The south had also been without an active case since April 30.

The other four new cases are in the far north region.

There have now been 16 total cases reported in the south region and 627 province-wide. The number of recoveries is now up to 521.

Five residents are also in hospital. Three are in the intensive care unit, while the other two are receiving inpatient care.
