The new Southwest Integrated Healthcare Facility in Maple Creek will open its doors for the Acute Care and Universal Care Unit programs and services today.

At seven o'clock this morning emergency outpatient services were provided. Then at eight o'clock the lab and x-ray services will be available and the Primary Health Care Clinic and Universal Care appointments will be available starting at ten.

Trent Regier is the Director of Long Term Care and Integrated Health Services for the Cypress Health Region. He says, “Health care drives both economic development as well as a strong base community, so it's just integral that a community the size of Maple Creek that has such a large surrounding area as well has a solid foundational healthcare system.

“We have been anxiously waiting for this day for quite some time.” said Beth Vachon, Chief Executive Officer for the Health Region. “The community and surrounding areas have witnessed the construction activity on the site for many months, and now they will be able to benefit from the quality health care programs and services offered in this new state-of-the-art facility.”

The transition of long term care residents currently residing at Cypress Lodge Nursing Home is anticipated to occur in mid- August, and a Grand Opening Event will be scheduled for early fall.
