A local watercross athlete headed to Saskatoon this past weekend for the Western Canadian Watercross Association's third and fourth rounds.

The competition was held on Saturday and Sunday at the Saskatoon Boat Launch near the Broadway Bridge and Kiwanis Memorial Park.

Lac Pelletier's 14-year-old Emery Burton participated in the competition alongside his father, after a successful competition a few weeks ago at Rattlesnake Lake.

In round three on Saturday, Burton captured second place in the Vintage Ski Class and third in the Beginner Ski Class.

He came back on Sunday for round four where he received first place in the Vintage Ski Class, earning him a total of three trophies throughout the two-day competition.

Burton is passionate about watercross and hopes to continue having fun competing.
