Swift Current business owner's annual opportunity to give back

A local business is calling on the generosity and holiday spirit of residents in Swift Current for their annual Holiday Giveaway. 

Kaitlin Fehr, Owner of Allure Nail Salon & Boutique, has chosen The Family Resource Centre as the recipient for this year's giveaway. 

“The Family Resource Center is a local not-for-profit that supports mostly people with families with younger age kids that are in need of support in relation to programs and household items and kids clothing,” she stated. “I typically try to choose the not for profits that don't get a lot of traction around town, just so that they get some holiday support as well.” 

Fehr, who has run the Holiday Giveaway in the community for the past three years, elaborated on how it works. 

“Initially I approach local businesses to be our prize sponsors and they contribute things like gift certificates or items or packages that can be used as our prizes,” she explained. “That way I can help give them a little bit of promotion and then the general public is able to gain entries into the prizes by donating the specific items that are listed on the Family Resources Center's Christmas wish list. So, things like diapers, children’s clothing, winter clothing, craft books, toys, etc.” 

This year’s sponsors include The Glass Slipper Spa, MJ Holding, Black Bridge Brewery, Swift Current Curling Club, Prairie Soul Jewelry + Gift, Swiss Shoe, Innovation Credit Union, Scrubcetera, Swift Current Broncos, Kutz n Kisses Pet Grooming, Optical Image, Anchor Dental, Allure Nail Salon & Boutique, and Scentsy by Terry Volk. 

Donations for the Family Resource Centre will be collected until December 20 and delivered to the non-profit on Christmas Eve. 

In 2021, the Holiday Giveaway was able to produce more than 400 for Dorie’s House in Swift Current.
