The Seattle Thunderbirds exploded for four goals in the first period, including three goals in a span of 45 seconds, en route to a 6-3 win over the Winnipeg Ice in game three of the WHL Championship Series on Tuesday night.

Jeremy Hanzel scored twice for Seattle with Kyle Crnkovic, Brad Lambert, Jared Davidson and Dylan Guenther also scoring. Thomas Milic made 35 saves in the win.

Seattle leads the series 2-1 with game four tonight in Kent, Washington.

At the Centennial Cup Junior A championship, the Battlefords North Stars wrapped up the round robin with a 3-1 win over the MJHL Champion Steinbach Pistons Tuesday night in Portage La Prairie. The Stars finish with a 3-1 record and clinched a spot in the playoffs starting on Friday.
