Taillight Tuesday resumed once again last night, despite the wind doing its best to blow the weekly show n' shine away.

Close to 35 cars made it out to the Living Sky Casino for the evening. Joining the car enthusiasts this month is the Swift Current SPCA. For all of June, the SPCA will be attending Taillight Tuesday, taking donations and offering up some incentives for people to buy into raffles and other contests.

Ashely Muhle, the fundraising manager for the Swift Current SPCA, was happy to see so much support despite the foul-tempered tempest ripping through the parking lot.

"We can take any kind of donations," said Muhle. "We're desperately needing kitten food and puppy food right now, but anything really helps."

Muhle credited Dustin Vipond of the Rogue Cruisers for having supplied a battery charger and some other prizes for folks donating to the SPCA.

Vipond himself was blown away by how many people brought out their cars in the windy conditions.

"It honestly amazes me," said Vipond. "There are some die-hards out there. I fully expected to come down here and see one, maybe two cars or nobody even. It's just miserable and windy and the guys still want to come down and visit."

Part of the charm of the event is the social aspect. People pull up, unload their chairs, and sit together while discussing what they have been up to with their cars, life, and everything and anything else. For many, the weekly event has become their social highlight.

"It's a huge social event," said Vipond. "Honestly, the cars have almost become second for some of these guys."

Of course, many bring out their dogs with them. With this month being in support of the SPCA, Vipond encourages people to not only bring their pets but also bring some spare goods for the animal shelter.

"I'll put a list up of stuff that they're in need of," provided Vipon. "We're going to try and have some shelter animals down here on display and maybe garner some interest in adopting."

People who have any questions about donating through the Rogue Cruisers can catch Vipond and the rest of them down in Cadillac this Saturday. That's where 'Chrome in Cadillac' will see the town's first car show involving members of the Rogue Cruisers, the Excellerators, Ride for Dad, and other automotive enthusiasts banding together.
