Taillight Tuesday may have started off with some rainy skies, but it ended up full of sunshine last night.

With close to 60 cars turning up at the Living Sky Casino, the weekly car show was successful despite the frightful start. People were quick to pull up and set up their lawn chairs after the rain cleared up, with quite a few new rides once again loading up the parking lot.

Dustin Vipond, co-founder of the host Rogue Cruisers, hardly had a moment to rest as all the hot rods and garage garnish had him running back and forth across the parking lot to take photos, shake hands, and learn about the rides.

"It was actually a pretty good turnout," said Vipond. "There were some guys who made the trek down from Assiniboia with a couple of Corvettes."

Some of the highlights people seemed to crowd around the most were a 1914 Chevrolet pickup truck, a 1979 Grand Marquis, and a whole bunch of Corvettes.

Last night being the final Tuesday in June means it was also the final night for the SPCA to partner up with the Rogue Cruisers. Throughout the month of June, they had been taking in donations of both cash and goods for the local animal shelter. By the end, they had amassed quite a hoard, with around $600 in cash collected for the SPCA.

Another big draw was the giveaway draw the SPCA hosted, in which the winner received a booster package courtesy of the Rogue Cruisers. That was won by Ellis Leaman.

Next month, SWAVI will be back to continue fundraising for their access van for The Meadows. Those with enough Taillight Tuesdays on the odometer might remember them from last summer, and how they did manage to raise enough money to purchase the van.

"They'll have (the van) on display down here and it looks real good," said Vipond. "They're fundraising for operating costs and insurance and add-ons and stuff."

As always, the event will be free and open to anyone who wants to pull up their ride to the show in July. There is no cost to join, and no cost to explore the parking lot. All they ask is that if you can afford to donate, you consider doing so.
