Steve Laycock and his rink from the Swift Current Curling Club dropped into the B-Event at the SaskTel Tankard with a 9-7 loss to Kelly Knapp from the Highland in Regina in the A semi-final Thursday night in Estevan.

Laycock, with local curlers Shaun Meachem and Chris Haichert, scored two with hammer in the first end and picked up a four-ender in the fifth to jump out to a 6-2 lead at the break, but Knapp came back with a single in the sixth and steals of two in the seventh and eighth ends to take a 7-6 lead. After forcing Laycock to a single in the ninth to tie it, Knapp scored two with hammer in the tenth to win.

Laycock will face the Nutana Club's Dustin Kalthoff in a B Event game this morning. The A Final this afternoon will see Knapp face defending champion Colton Flasch with the number one seed in the playoffs up for grabs. The B Final, C qualifiers and Page Playoffs will all happen on Saturday with the semi-final and final on Sunday.

The winning team will represent Saskatchewan at the Tim Hortons Brier in London, Ontario, from March 3 to 12.
