With the 43rd edition of Telemiracle on tap this weekend, Swift Current city council proclaimed it 'Telemiracle Week' in the city Monday night.

The week proclaimed by the City actually began on Sunday and runs until this Saturday, the date in which the two-day charity event will kick off from TCU Place in Saskatoon.

Swift Current Kinsmen member, and past chair of the Telemiracle committee, Scott Lamb, was on hand for the proclamation and said recently some funding was approved for some people in need in southwestern Saskatchewan.

"Eight or nine apps (applications) that were in southwestern Saskatchewan that were all granted and approved on the weekend," he said. "These numbers are actually going up in the area, obviously we see more numbers out of Regina and Saskatoon and stuff like that. Nine, nine were asked and approved this past weekend."

Last year the event raised an all-time record of $7.1 million.
