In the April 28 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting a total of 213 new cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 213 new cases there are 12 in the Far North West zone, 8 in the North West zone, 4 in the North Central zone, 3 in the North East zone, 47 in the Saskatoon zone, 8 in the Central East zone, and 81 in the Regina zone.

There are 4 new cases in the South West zone, 12 in the South Central zone, and 31 in the South East zone

There are 3 new cases with pending residence information.

Two cases with pending residence information have been assigned as follows - 1 to the North West zone, and 1 to the Regina zone.

That brings the provincial total number cases to 40,614, of which 2,443 are considered active.

There are 90 active cases in the South West zone - 58 in the South West subzone 1, and 32 in the South West subzone 2.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 cases is 245 (20.0 new cases per 100,000 population).

There were 284 recoveries reported, bringing that provincial total to 37,685.

There are 4 new deaths reported. Of those deaths, 3 are in the Saskatoon zone from the following age groups - 40-49, 50-59, and 70-79, and 1 death is from the Regina zone in the 70-79 age group.

That brings the provincial total number of deaths to 486.

There are 184 people in the hospital. One hundred and forty-two people are receiving inpatient care - 1 in the Far North West zone, 1 in the Far North East zone, 6 in the North West zone, 6 in the North Central zone, 52 in the Saskatoon zone, 2 in the Central West zone, 7 in the Central East zone, 53 in the Regina zone, 4 in the South Central zone, and 10 in the South East zone.

There are 42 people in intensive care - 1 in the North West zone, 2 in the North Central zone, 11 in the Saskatoon zone, 2 in the Central East zone, 25 in the Regina zone, and 1 in the South Central zone.

To date, there have been 762,565 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan.

And yesterday, there were 3,399 COVID-19 tests processed.

As of April 27, a total of 6,444 variants of concern have been identified by screening in the province - 92 in the Far North West zone,1 in the Far North Central zone, 3 in the Far North East zone, 178 in the North West zone, 103 in the North Central zone, 13 in the North East zone, 711 in the Saskatoon zone, 80 in the Central West zone, 282 in the Central East zone, and 3,584 in the Regina zone.

There is a total of 174 variants of concern cases in the South West zone, 486 in the South Central zone, and 662 in the South East zone.

There are 75 screened variants of concern cases with residence pending.

There are 0 new lineage results reported. Of the 2,305 variants of concern with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 2,277 are B.1.1.1.7 (UK), 19 are P.1 (Brazilian), and 9 are B.1.351 (SA).

The Regina zone accounts for 1,581 (or 69%) of the variants of concern cases with confirmed lineage reported in the province.

An additional 7,334 does of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered to 415,763.

Of those 7,334 vaccine doses there were 230 given in the South West zone.

Eighty per cent of residents over 60 years of age have received their first vaccine dose. Forty per cent of those 18+ have received their first dose.
