The April 30 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority is reporting a total of 264 new cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 264 new cases there are 10 in the Far North West zone, 24 in the North West zone, 15 in the North Central zone, 5 in the North East zone, 63 in the Saskatoon zone, 2 in the Central West zone, 11 in the Central East zone, and 79 in the Regina zone.

There are 11 new cases in the South West zone (7 in the South West subzone 1, and 4 in the South West subzone 2), 14 new cases are in the South Central zone, and 25 new cases are in the South East zone.

There are 5 new cases with pending residence information.

Three cases with pending residence information have been assigned as follows - 1 in the North Central zone, 1 in the North West zone, and 1 in the South East zone.

That brings the provincial total number of cases to 41,098, of which 2,426 are considered active.

There are 95 active cases in the South West zone - 58 in the South West subzone 1, and 37 in the South West subzone 2.

The seven-day average of daily new COVID-19 cases is 241 (19.7 new cases per 100,000 population).

There are 252 recoveries reported, bringing that provincial total to 38,181.

There are 4 new deaths reported - 1 in the 40-49 age group from the Regina zone, 1 in the 60-69 age group from the Far North East zone, and 1 in the 70-79 age group from the South Central zone. One death with residence pending was in the 60-69 age group.

That brings the provincial total number of deaths to 491.

There are 173 people in the hospital. One hundred and thirty-six people are receiving inpatient care - 1 in the Far North East zone, 6 in the North West zone, 4 in the North Central zone, 54 in the Saskatoon zone, 8 in the Central East zone, and 52 in the Regina zone.

There is currently 1 person receiving inpatient care in the South West zone, 3 in the South Central zone, and 7 in the South East zone.

There are 37 people in intensive care - 1 in the North West zone, 2 in the North Central zone, 9 in the Saskatoon zone, 2 in the Central East zone, and 23 in the Regina zone.

To date, there has been 769,787 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan.

And yesterday, there were 3,916 tests processed.

As of April 29, there were 6,794 variants of concern cases identified by screening in total in the province - 121 in the Far North West zone, 3 in the Far North East zone, 203 in the North West zone, 111 in the North Central zone, 20 in the North East zone, 765 in the Saskatoon zone, 81 in the Central West zone, 296 in the Central East zone, and 3,717 in the Regina zone.

In total there have been 184 variant of concern cases in the South West zone, 510 in the South Central zone, and 700 in the South East zone.

There are 83 screened variants of concern cases with residence pending.

There are 130 new lineage results reported.

Of the 2,522 variants of concern cases with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in the province, 2,491 are B.1.1.1.7 (UK), 22 are P.1 (Brazilian), and 9 are B.1.351 (SA).

The Regina zone accounts for 1,653 (or 66%) of the variants of concern cases with confirmed lineage reported in Saskatchewan.

An additional 5,758 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number administered to 427,739.

Of the 5,758 vaccine doses administered there were 162 given in the South West zone.

Eight-one percent of residents over age 60 have received their first vaccine dose.

Sixty-one percent of those 40+ have received their first dose.

And Forty-one percent of those 18+ have received their first dose.

Saskatchewan is scheduled to receive 9,300 doses of Janssen vaccine the week of May 3. This vaccine will primarily be offered in drive-thru vaccination clinics with details available in the coming days.
