In the August 18 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting a total of 131 new confirmed cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 131 new cases there are 3 in the Far North West zone, 5 in the Far North Central zone, 24 in the Far North East zone, 9 in the North West zone, 17 in the North Central zone, 3 in the North East zone, 29 in the Saskatoon zone, 3 in the Central East zone, 13 in the Regina zone, 6 in the South Central zone and 8 in the South East zone.

There are 5 new cases reported in the South West zone - 1 in the South West subzone 1, and 4 in the South West subzone 2.

There are 6 new cases with pending residence information.

Fourteen cases with pending residence information have been assigned as follows - 1 from July 27, 1 from July 28, 1 from August 11, and 1 from August 16 to the Far North West zone, 1 from May 1, 1 from May 26, 1 from May 29,1 from July 14, and 1 from August 5 to the Far North East zone, 2 from August 15, and 2 from August 16 to the North Central zone, and 1 from August 14 to the Regina zone.

One Saskatchewan resident has been added to the case counts in the Far North East zone from August 9.

One case from August 16 has been deemed to be a non-Saskatchewan resident and removed from the North Central zone.

That brings the provincial total number of cases to 51,630, of which 1,066 are considered active.

There are 53 active cases in the South West zone - 30 in the South West subzone 1, and 23 in the South West subzone 2.

Less than one-half (42.7%) of new cases are in the 20 to 39 age category.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 cases is 122 (10.1 new cases per 100,000 population).

There are no deaths reported, leaving that provincial total at 586.

There are 82 recoveries reported, bringing that provincial total to 49,978.

There are 82 people in the hospital - 67 are receiving inpatient care, and 15 are in intensive care.

Of the 82 patients, 63 (77%) are not fully vaccinated.

To date, a total of 990,954 COVID-19 tests have been processed in Saskatchewan.

And yesterday, there were 2,017 COVID-19 tests processed.

Of the 8,684 variants of concern cases identified with whole genome sequencing in the province, 7,096 are Alpha (B.1.1.7), 10 are Beta (B.1.351), 448 are Gamma (P.1), and 1,130 are Delta (B.1.617.2).

There were 1,990 COVID-19 vaccines given in Saskatchewan, 93 of those in the South West zone.

That brings the provincial total number of vaccines administered to 1,450,358.

There are 678,505 people who are fully vaccinated.
