In the February 23 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they reported a total of 122 new cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 122 new cases there are 11 in the Far North West zone, 5 in the Far North Central zone, 16 in the Far North East zone, 10 in the North West zone, 4 in the North Central zone, 2 in the North East zone 25 in the Saskatoon zone, 7 in the Central East zone, 37 in the Regina zone, and 1 in the South East zone.

There are 4 cases that have pending residence information.

Nine cases with pending residence information were assigned as follows - 1 to the Far North Central zone, 4 to the Far North East zone, 1 to the Far North West zone, and 3 to the North West zone.

Four Saskatchewan residents tested out of the province were added to the Far North West zone (2) the North Central zone (1), and 1 is pending residence information.

That brings the provincial total number of COVID-19 cases to 27,923, of which 1,530 are considered active.

There are currently 4 active cases in the South West zone. Two cases are in the South West sub zone 1 and two cases are in the South West sub zone 2.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 156 (12.7 new cases per 100,000 population).

There are 244 recoveries reported, bringing that provincial total to 26,017.

Four new deaths have been reported, bringing the provincial total number of deaths related to COVID-19 to 376. Three deaths were reported in the 80+ age group from the Regina (2) and Saskatoon (1) zones, and one death in the 70-79 age group from the Regina zone.

There are 174 people in hospital. One hundred and fifty-eight are receiving inpatient care - 8 in the Far North West zone, 2 in the Far North Central zone, 2 in the Far North East zone, 16 in the North West zone, 17 in the North Central zone, 2 in the North East zone, 56 in the Saskatoon zone, 1 in the Central West zone, 8 in the Central East zone, 40 in the Regina zone, 2 in the South Central zone, and 4 in the South East zone.

There are 16 people in intensive care - 1 in the North West zone, 1 in the North Central zone, 8 in the Saskatoon zone, and 6 in the Regina zone.

To date, 563,055 COVID-19 tests have been processed in Saskatchewan.

And yesterday, there were 1,872 COVID-19 tests processed.

B1.1.7 UK has been detected in 2 residents in the Regina zone. They were tested at the end of January. Based on the contact investigation to date, there is no link to travel at this time, but public  health's investigation is on-going.

B1.351 (South Africa) has been detected in one resident in the North Central zone. This individual was tested at the end of January. Public health's investigation in on-going.

There is a presumptive case of B1.1.7 UK in one individual in the Saskatoon zone. The individual was transferred from out of province to Saskatoon for acute care. Whole genome sequencing will need to be completed to confirm the results. Public health's contact investigation is on-going.

This brings the provincial total of confirmed variant of concern cases to six: five B1.1.7 UK including 1 presumptive case, and one B1.351 SA.

There were 549 COVID-19 vaccine doses administered yesterday in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 62,342.
