In the February 9 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting a total of 80 new cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 80 new cases, there are 5 in the Far North West zone, 7 in the Far North East zone, 13 in the North West zone, 7 in the North Central zone, 1 in the North East zone, 34 in the Saskatoon zone, 2 in the Central West zone, 5 in the Central East zone, 4 in the Regina zone, and 1 in the South Central zone.

There is currently 1 new case with pending residence information.

That brings the provincial total number of cases to 25,654, of which 2,026 are considered active.

There are currently 9 active cases in the South West zone.

There is an outbreak at the Assiniboia Union Hospital located in the South Central zone. In non-household settings, an outbreak is confirmed when two or more people test positive for COVID-19.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 203 (16.5 new cases per 100,000 population).

There are  253 recoveries, bringing that provincial total to 23,282.

Five Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. One death was reported in the 60-69 age group from the Far North West zone, two deaths were reported in the 80+ age group from the North Central zone, one death was reported in the 80+ age group from the Saskatoon zone, and one death was reported in the 80+ age group from the South East zone.

That brings the provincial total number of deaths related to COVID-19 to 346.

There are 206 people in hospital. One hundred and eighty people are receiving inpatient care -  4 in the Far North West zone, 21 in the North West zone, 25 in the North Central zone, 2 in the North East zone, 65 in the Saskatoon zone, 1 in the Central West zone, 10 in the Central East zone, 48 in the Regina zone, 1 in the South Central zone, and 3 in the South East zone.

There are 26 people in intensive care - 1 in the North West zone, 1 in the North Central zone, 10 in the Saskatoon zone, 3 in the Central East zone, and 10 in the Regina zone.

There is currently 1 person in intensive care in the South West zone.

To date, there have been 530,826 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan.

And yesterday, there were 1,910 COVID-19 tests processed.

There were 1,252 COVID-19 vaccine doses administered yesterday in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 44,521. With this, 100% of the doses received have been administered to date. This overage is due to efficiencies in drawing extra doses from vials of vaccine received.

Today, the Public Health Agency of Canada announced the approval of a regulatory change for the Pfizer vaccine from five doses to six doses per vial. This week's shipment of Pfizer to the province will continue to be counted as 5 doses per vial. Beginning next week, all Pfizer doses shipped to provinces and territories will be based on six doses per vial. Due to this change, the Ministry of Health and the Saskatchewan Health Authority are currently examining the potential impact to vaccine distribution plans.
