In the January 12 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting a total of 248 new cases of the virus today in the province.

Of those 248 new cases there are 11 in the Far North West zone, 2 in the Far North Central zone, 20 in the Far North East zone, 30 in the North West zone, 26 in the North Central zone, 5 in the North East zone, 53 in the Saskatoon zone, 2 in the Central West zone, 10 in the Central East zone, and 37 in the Regina zone.

There are currently 2 new cases in the South West zone, 8 in the South Central zone, and 11 in the South East zone.

There are 31 new cases with pending residence information.

Twenty-seven cases with pending residence information were assigned as follows-  6 to the Far North West zone, 9 to the Far North East zone, 2 to the North West zone, and 10 to the North Central zone.

That brings the provincial total number of COVID-19 cases to 18,770, of which 3,752 are considered active.

There are currently 14 active cases in the South West zone.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 321 (26.5 new cases per 100,000 population).

There is one outbreak reported in the South Central zone at the Union Hospital in Assiniboia. In non-household settings, an outbreak is confirmed when two or more people test positive for COVID-19.

Five Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. Two new deaths in the 80+ age group were reported in the Regina zone, 2 new deaths in the 70-79 age group were reported in the Far North West and North West zones, and 1 new death in the 30-39 age group was reported in the South West zone.

That brings the provincial total number of deaths related to COVID-19 to 204.

There have been 226 recoveries reported, bringing that provincial total to 14,814.

There are 191 people in hospital. One hundred and sixty-two people are receiving inpatient care - 1 in the Far North West zone, 1 in the Far North Central zone, 10 in the North West zone, 34 in the North Central zone, 12 in the North East zone, 42 in the Saskatoon zone, 9 in the Central East zone, 42 in the Regina zone, 1 in the South Central zone, and 10 in the South East zone.

There are currently 29 people in intensive care - 1 in the North West zone, 4 in the North Central zone, 14 in the Saskatoon zone, 1 in the Central East zone, and  9 in the Regina zone.

To date, there has been 456,046 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan.

As of January 12, a total of 9,880 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Saskatchewan.

The nest Pfizer shipment of 6, 825 doses is expected to arrive in Saskatoon today and vaccination will continue among priority long term care home and personal care home residents and staff.

The next Moderna shipment of 5,400 does is expected to arrive in Saskatchewan January 14.
