In the January 28 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting a total of  244 new cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 244 cases there are 25 in the Far North West zone, 7 in the Far North Central zone, 14 in the Far North East zone, 20 in the North West zone, 13 in the North Central zone, 6 in the North East zone, 70 in the Saskatoon zone, 5 in the Central West zone, 10 in the Central East zone, 54 in the Regina zone, 4 in the South Central zone, and 16 in the South East zone.

Five cases with pending residence information were assigned as follows - 1 to the Far North East zone, 1 to the North West zone, 2 to the North Central zone, and 1 to the South East zone.

That brings the provincial total number of COVID-19 cases to 23,038, of which 2,478 are considered active.

There are currently 9 active cases in the South West zone.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 244 (19.9 new cases per 100,000 population).

There is one outbreak status still in the South Central zone, at The Assiniboia Union Hospital. In non-household settings, an outbreak is confirmed when two or more people test positive for COVID-19.

Eleven Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died - 1 reported death was in the 40-49 age group from the Far North East zone, 2 reported deaths were in the 60-69 age group  from the North Central zone (1) and the Saskatoon zone (1), 2 reported deaths were in the 70-79 age group from the Far North East zone (1), and the North West zone (1), and 6 reported deaths were in the 80+ age group from the Saskatoon zone (2) and the Regina zone (4),

That brings the provincial total number of deaths related to COVID-19 to 285.

There were 282 recoveries, bringing that provincial total to 20,275.

There are 208 people in hospital. One hundred and seventy-one are receiving inpatient care -  5 in the Far North West zone, 1 in the Far North East zone, 14 in the North West zone, 27 in the North Central zone, 4 in the North East zone, 66 in the Saskatoon zone, 1 in the Central West zone, 11 in the Central East zone, and 38 in the Regina zone.

There is currently 1 person receiving inpatient care in the South West zone, 1 in the South Central zone, and 2 in the South East zone.

There is currently 37 people in intensive care - 3 in the North West zone, 2 in the North Central zone, 18 in the Saskatoon zone, 1 in the Central East zone, and 12 in the Regina zone.

There is currently 1 person in intensive care in the South West zone.

To date, there has been 500,043 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan.

And yesterday there were 2,575 COVID-19 tests processed.

There were 118 administered doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported yesterday in Saskatchewan-this brings the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 34,672.

As of January 28 106% of the doses received have been administered. This overage is due to efficiencies in drawing extra doses from vials of vaccine received.

A shipment of 5,850 doses of Pfizer vaccine will be arriving in Saskatchewan the week of February 1. This shipment will be divided between the Lloydminister, Spiritwood, Saskatoon, Regina, Swift Current, and Moosomin areas and used to continue vaccinating priority populations.

The weekly report of cases for children ages 0 to 19 years has been released by The Saskatchewan Health Authority.

For the week of January 18-24 there were a total of 773 active cases in children and youth, with 12 of those cases having location/residence information unavailable.

Of those 773 cases there are 99 in the Far North West zone, 30 in the Far North Central zone,39 in the Far North East zone, 130 in the North West zone 65 in the North Central zone, 90 in the North East zone, 5 in the Central West zone,24 in the Central East zone, 128 in the Saskatoon zone, 87 in the Regina zone, 1 in the South West zone, 2 in the South Central zone, and 61 in the South East zone.
