In the January 8 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting a total of 336 new cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 336 new cases there are 20 in the Far North West zone, 4 in the Far North Central zone, 52 in the Far North East zone, 46 in the North West zone, 41 in the North Central zone, 3 in the North East zone, 57 in the Saskatoon zone, 6 in the Central West zone, 9 in the Central East zone, and 56 in the Regina zone.

There are currently 2 new cases in the South West zone, 6 in the South Central zone, and 17 in the South East zone.

There are 17 new cases that have pending residence information.

Seventy-two previously reported cases with pending residence information have been assigned as follows - 5 to the Far North West zone, 21 to the Far North East zone, 20 to the North West zone, 21 to the North Central zone, 1 to the Central East zone, 2 to the Saskatoon zone, 1 to the Regina zone, and 1 to the South East zone.

That brings the total provincial number of COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan to 17,474, of which 3,053 are considered active.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 262 (21.6 new cases per 100,000 population).

Seven Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. One new death was recorded in the 80+ age group in the North Central zone. Four new deaths were recorded in the Regina zone - 1 in the 60-69 age group, 2 in the 70-79 age group, and 1 in the 80+ age group. And 2 new deaths were recorded i the South East zone - 1 in the 30-39 age group and 1 in the 80+ age group.

That brings the total provincial number of deaths to 184.

There have been 223 new recoveries reported, bringing that provincial total to 14,237.

There are 180 people in hospital. One hundred and fifty-four people are receiving inpatient care - 1 in the Far North Central zone, 1 in the Far North East zone, 11 in the North West zone,  30 in the North Central zone, 3 in the North East zone, 50 in the Saskatoon zone, 8 in the Central East zone, 39 in the Regina zone, 2 in the South Central zone, and 9 in the South East zone.

There are currently 26 people in intensive care - 2 in the North West zone, 4 in the North Central zone, 8 in the Saskatoon zone,1 in the Central East zone, and 11 in the Regina zone.

To date, there has been 445,168 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan.

And  yesterday there were 3,105 COVID-19 tests processed.

As of January 8, a total of 6,015 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the province, with nearly 1,200 delivered in the last 24 hours. This includes 2,069 Pfizer doses and 815 second doses in the Regina pilot program, 2,627 Pfizer doses in Saskatoon, 160 Pfizer doses in Prince Albert, and 344 Moderna doses in the Far North West zone. This represents the largest number of vaccines administered in one day to date.
