In the May 11 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they reported a total of 186 new cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 186 new cases there is 1 in the Far North West zone, 5 in the Far North East zone, 13 in the North West zone, 29 in the North Central zone, 3 in the North East zone, 53 in the Saskatoon zone, 1 in the Central West zone, 7 in the Central East zone, 46 in the Regina zone, 12 in the South Central zone, and 7 in the South East zone.

There are 7 new cases in the South West zone -all 7 in the South West subzone 2.

There are 2 new cases with pending residence information.

Four cases with pending residence information have been assigned as follows - 1 to the Far North East zone, 1 to the Central East zone, and 2 to the Regina zone.

Seven cases tested out of the province were added to the following zones - 2 in the Far North West zone, 2 to the North West zone, and 3 to the Regina zone.

That brings the total provincial number of cases to 43,481, of which 2,064 are considered active.

There are currently 85 active cases in the South West zone - 60 the South West subzone 1, and 25 in the South West subzone 2.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 cases is 204 (16.6 new cases per 100,000 population).

There were 266 recoveries reported, bringing that provincial total to 40,911.

There are 4 new deaths reported. Three deaths in the North West zone - 1 in the 30-39 age group, 1 in the 70-79 age group, and 1 in the 80+ age group. There was 1 death reported in the 60-69 age group from the South Central zone.

That brings the total provincial number of deaths to 506.

There are 162 people in the hospital. One hundred and twenty-four people are receiving inpatient care - 5 in the North West zone, 4 in the North Central zone, 1 in the North East zone, 61 in the Saskatoon zone, 3 in the Central East zone, 40 in the Regina zone, 3 in the South Central zone, and 6 in the South East zone.

There is 1 person receiving inpatient care in the South West zone.

There are 38 people in intensive care - 2 in the North Central zone, 13 in the Saskatoon zone, 2 in the Central East zone, 19 in the Regina zone, and 1 in the South Central zone.

There is 1 person in intensive care in the South West zone.

To date, there has been 805,679 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan.

And yesterday, there were 3,043 COVID-19 tests processed.

As of May 10 there were a total of 8,514 variants of concern cases identified by screening in the province - 191 in the Far North  West zone, 8 in the Far North East zone, 324 in the North West zone, 251 in the North Central zone, 50 in the North East zone, 1,064 in the Saskatoon zone, 91 in the Central West zone, 384 in the Central East zone, 4,253 in the Regina zone, 616 in the South Central zone, and 871 in the South East zone.

There were a total of 279 in the South West zone.

There are 132 screened variants of concern cases with residence pending.

There are 60 new lineage results reported. Of the 3,496 variants of concern cases with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 3,436 are B.1.1.1.7(UK), 51 are P.1 (Brazilian), and 9 are B.1.351(SA).

While Saskatchewan continues to monitor COVID-19 trends throughout the province, public health reminds all residents to ensure any travel, both within the province and inter-provincially, is for essential purposes only.

An additional 3,050 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered to 530,307.

Of those 3,050 vaccine doses there were 162 administered in the South West zone.

Seventy-two percent of those over the age of 40 have received their first dose, 61% of those aged 30 and over have received their first dose, and 51% of those 18 and over have received their first dose.

Effective at 8 a.m. Wednesday May 12, eligibility will expand to persons aged 26 and older. It remains at 18 and older for the Northern Saskatchewan Administration District.

This applies to all immunization clinics: booked appointments, drive-thru/walk-ins, pharmacies and mobile clinics.
