The 2019 Western Canada Summer Games wrapped up on Sunday in Swift Current, and the event was, by all accounts, a tremendous success story for our community.

Over 10 days, we saw over 1700 athletes and coaches from six provinces and territories, 16 events at 20 venues with huge crowds for many of the sports, a volunteer base of over 2000 strong helping the games run as smoothly as possible, and a lifetime of memories for everyone that was involved in this, the largest event Swift Current has ever hosted, and an event that proved our city is capable of anything when a community comes together.

Mark Benesh and Melissa Shaw, the co-chairs of the Western Canada Summer Games, joined Colin on the Magic Morning Show for a final wrap up of the event.

Swift Current is certainly not finished with hosting big events this year, with the CCA Finals Rodeo happening again in October, and the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge taking place in both Swift Current and Medicine Hat this November.
