Environment and Climate Change Canada has sent out a wind warning for a portion of southwestern Saskatchewan.
The weather alert was issued at 1:08 p.m. for Swift Current, Herbert, Cabri, Kyle, and Lucky Lake with gusts expected to reach over 90 km/hr.
Swift Current has recorded the second strongest wind gust in the province so far this afternoon at 94 km/hr.
The strong winds are linked to the tailend of a low pressure system that swept across the region yesterday.
"It's quite a beast of a system with those gusts," said Environment and Climate Change Canada meteorologist Stephen Berg. "It's kind of like a one-day wonder... southwestern Saskatchewan looks pretty gentle (tomorrow) compared to today."
Winds are expected to taper off later this afternoon and overnight down to 30-40 km/hr gusts by morning.
