At last night's city council meeting, Braden Forbes and Dawn Caswell were on hand to help the city proclaim June 28 to July 4 as Pride Week in Swift Current.
Like most events that have been forced to go virtual by the current COVID-19 pandemic, Southwest Saskatchewan Pride has had to be creative in their events for the week.
Mayor Denis Perrault and Braden Forbes, the Chair of Southwest Saskatchewan Pride, were on hand at Market Square on Monday raising the pride flag.
Mayor @denisperrault joined Braden and Dawn from @swsaskpride this afternoon to help raise a flag over Market Square in honour of Pride Week here in Swift Current. In his presentation that evening joining city council virtually, Forbes highlighted the importance of Pride Week.
"In the midst of the largest civil rights movement in the history of the planet, now is more important than ever to help uplift and protect the lives and voices of marginalized people globally. It is critical that we take the time to learn about ourselves and others to help build a better world for all people regardless of what we may think separates us."
