In the SHA's daily COVID-19 update this afternoon, 18 new cases have been reported.

Thirteen of the new cases are in the Far North where most are connected to a wake on June 10th and a funeral on June 11th. Three of the new cases are in the Saskatoon Region and two cases are individuals who tested positive in Saskatchewan but live out of the province. These cases are under further investigation.

With the 18 new cases reported today that brings the provincial total to  683.

Saskatchewan Chief Medical Health Officer, Doctor Saqib Shahab says that this is a reminder that COVID-19 is still in Saskatchewan and large public gatherings increase the risk of transmission.

Health officials want to remind the public of the importance of maintaining physical distancing practices and for those people who attended these events to immediately self-isolate and self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 from the date of attendance.

Of the 683 reported COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan, 41 are considered active.

One more recovery was announced today, with two people in hospital- one in inpatient care in the North and one in intensive care in Saskatoon.

To date, 56,223 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the province.
