A Swift Current minor baseball alumnus is off to North Dakota for the next chapter in his career later this summer.

Earlier this winter catcher/infielder Rydell Adair committed to the Bismarck State College Mystics baseball program for the next two years.

Adair's teammate with the 57's last summer, catcher Logan Grant shared his experience with the Mystics that ended up playing a factor in the Swift Current products decision.

"It really interested me," Adair said. "They won a lot so it would be nice to be a part of that."

He then reached out to the coach and after a few texts and some video being shared, his dream started to become reality by being sent an offer.

"It's pretty exciting," he said. "He gave me a virtual tour and the school looked really nice."

Adair graduated from the Swift Current 18U AAA 57's last summer and has spent the last several months in Alberta playing for the
Calgary Bison's. He has a batting average of .457 and has spent most of his time playing shortstop.

He'll transition back to the catcher position this summer with the 57's and be reunited with ex-teammates Dawson Schultz, Ethan Murdoch, and Connor Choo Foo.

"It will be fun to get back together with them," he said. "Fun catching Dawson again."

Adair will head to school in late August and will be enrolling for pre-physiotherapy. Once his two years are up he will then have a chance to move on to another school for four years.
