The City of Swift Current has some upgrades set to be installed today at the Aquatic Centre.

A pair of brand new pumps arrived last week, and are set to begin installation today. These pumps are replacing the old worn-out units, to the tune of $42,739.

Excited to see upgrades being made at the local swimming hole is Megan Chisholm, aquatic manager for the City of Swift Current.

"It was planned to replace them in the summer, but with the delays of receiving the shipping, we just received them two weeks ago," informed Chisholm. "We do have all of the replacements on hand. It's just getting them installed now."

These new and improved units will hopefully avoid problems the old pumps created, with stoppages and breakdowns.

Being that they are brand new, the City hopes to see them last for at least 15 years.

While the pool is closed for maintenance, the City is taking the opportunity to upgrade the control panels for the pool.

"Our control panels are tied into our filtration system for the main pool," said Chisholm.

Doors will be opening as soon as the installation is completed, with the earliest projected time being 3 p.m. Friday.

"We are all working very hard to ensure that we can open our facility as soon as possible," said Chisholm. "As soon as we have the clear from public health, we will let the community know."
