The Swift Current Comp High School Ardens soccer team moved to 2-0 on the season after a 7-0 win over Moose Jaw's Vanier Collegiate at home on Monday.

Navy Louma had two goals and an assist for the Ardens while Rachel Noble, Naimy Regier, Olami Akinfiresoye, and Emily McCleary. Akinfyresoye and Tinara Bowditch shared the clean sheet in goal.

The Ardens will take on the Yorkton Raiders in Moose Jaw on Thursday before hosting Prince Albert St. Mary and Weyburn this weekend.

Red Sox beat Rangers to keep idle Blue Jays ahead in wild card race

Rob Refsnyder hit a tie-breaking two-run single in the eighth inning to give the Boston Red Sox a 4-2 win over the Texas Rangers to snap a four-game slide for Boston and hand the Rangers their fourth loss in a row.

Meanwhile, Mariners rookie Bryan Woo struck out six batters over five shutout innings as Seattle blanked last-place Oakland 5-0.

Texas and Seattle are tied for the last wild card spot in the American League, one game behind the Toronto Blue Jays, who had the night off on Monday.

The Jays will start a six-game road swing tonight when they visit the Yankees in the Bronx. Yusei Kikuchi will start for the Jays against Clarke Schmidt.

Saints and Steelers win MNF doubleheader

Tony Jones Jr. ran for two touchdowns and rookie kicker Blake Grupe had two field goals to lead the New Orleans Saints past the Carolina Panthers 20-17 and improve to 2-0 for the first time since 2013.

In the late game on Monday, TJ Watt scored the go-ahead touchdown on a fumble recovery as the Pittsburgh Steelers edged the Cleveland Browns 26-22. The game was overshadowed by a serious knee injury to Cleveland star running back Nick Chubb, who will miss the rest of the NFL season.

PWHL hosts inaugural draft

American forward Taylor Heise was selected first overall by Minnesota in the inaugural Professional Women's Hockey League draft.

Toronto then selected Canadian defender Jocelyne Larocque with the second overall pick, Ottawa picked up Savannah Harmon fifth overall, and Montreal chose another blueliner, Erin Ambrose, with the sixth overall selection.

Two players from Saskatchewan were also selected in the draft. Prince Albert’s Brooke Hobson went 45th overall to New York while Sophie Shirley of Saskatoon was drafted 63rd overall by Boston.
