A group of 81 musicians from the Swift Current Comp High School made a memorable trip to Whistler, B.C. this past weekend.

The group of SCCHS music department students travelled to the mountainous region in B.C. to take part in the 18th annual International Con Brio Music Festival.

"It was very much an educational trip as far as the festival goes," said Janine Waines, Band Teacher at Swift Current Comp High School. "We certainly had our fair share of fun when we were in Whistler Village. We also did some sightseeing and shopping in Vancouver as well."

At the non-competitive event, students had the chance to participate in mass bands and choirs, while also having access to multiple adjudicators.

"It's one of the best music festivals that I've attended in my 14 years of teaching," Waines added. "There are opportunities for professional development for teachers, plus there a clinics and workshops for the students too."

The students also had the chance to take part in lip sync battles, scavenger hunts throughout Whistler Village while having the opportunity to win scholarships and prizes.

The visit to the festival was a success Waines noted, as she hopes the SCCHS music department will have a chance to return to the International Con Brio Music Festival in the future.
