Badminton took over the SCCHS gym on Saturday, as the Colts and Ardens hosted a nine-team tune-up tournament ahead of SWAC Sectionals this coming weekend.

A combined 48 teams were represented from SCCHS, Rosetown, Frontier, Maple Creek, Leader, Eston, Ponteix. Cabri, and Gravelbourg.

Leader had a strong showing, winning two of five gold medals. The Saints' Carson Leach and Jordan Mastel swept the boys doubles field on their way to gold.

As well, Kyla Tumback and Payton Stimson clinched the gold in girls doubles.

Meanwhile in mixed doubles, Chloe Pouteaux and Rylan Kleckner of Gravelbourg took the gold with a perfect 6-0 record.

In singles action, Cabri's Dallyn Jamieson also posted a 6-0 record for boys singles gold, while Meagan Wenzel of Rosetown did the same in girls singles.

Next up is the aforementioned Sectionals this coming Saturday, with three sections looking to post top-four finishes and move on to SHSAA Regionals.

The Whitemud Section at Eastend will see Consul, Eastend, Shaunavon, Frontier, and Val Marie. The Cypress Section at Hazlet has Maple Creek, Fox Valley, Leader, Cabri, and Hazlet battling. Lastly, the Rolling Hills Section at SCCHS matches up Gull Lake, SCCHS, Herbert, Hodgeville, Vanguard, and Ponteix.
