The Swift Current Broncos bounced back from Friday's 7-3 loss in Saskatoon, with a big 8-3 victory over the Blades in the second half of a home-and-home Saturday night at the Credit Union iplex.

Rookie sensation Coda Gordon followed up his two-goal performance on Friday, with two more on Saturday, and Levi Bews also had a pair of goals, including the game-winner. Ryon Moser, Josh Derko, Taylor Vause, and Graham Black also scored for the Broncos.

Goalie Jon Groenhyede made 33 saves for the Broncos, and could have had an assist as well, after making an incredible save on a Blades dump-in that deflected toward the net off a stancion. The play continued back into the Blades' zone and Vause scored his 33rd of the season only seconds later. Blades starter Andrey Makarov was chased after allowing five goals on 25 shots, and Adam Todd made 17 saves in relief. The Broncos outshot the Blades 45-36.

The Broncos didn't any help in the playoff race, however, after Prince Albert lost 6-2 to Brandon to keep Swift Current 17 points behind the Wheat Kings for the final playoff spot in the WHL's Eastern Conference.

Saturday was also Sheldon Kennedy Day in Swift Current, after the former Bronco received the Scotiabank Humanitarian Award for Lifetime Achievement on Friday. Kennedy was honoured before the game, and took part in the ceremonial face-off.
