The people of Cabri were left with no shortage of fun last night.

The Town's final Cabri Market took place, featuring ice cream, market stalls, fundraisers, and a car show, and ended with a movie in the park.

The gazebo was over flowing with ice cream lovers. The gazebo was over flowing with ice cream lovers.

Setting everything up and organizing the various elements for everyone was the Community Development Coordinator for the Town of Cabri, Cheyenne Bradford.

"They started the market a year before I started here and I've carried it on," said Bradford.

Bradford, who has served in her role with the Town for five years now, was pretty thrilled with how everything turned out, especially the car show.

"We tried the Show n' Shine to get a few more people to our markets," said Bradford. "It actually was a huge success and we will do it again."

The ice cream in the gazebo located on the corner of Antelope Avenue and Centre Street had a crowd lounging in the cool evening sun, enjoying the atmosphere and the treats.

Right next to them in the market clearing was a host of vendors, like members from the local Hutterite colony, Mesa Studio, students running the Town of Cabri merchandise table, and students from Cabri School.

The Cabri School students were engaging in fundraising for their Easter Break trip to Scotland. Peddling burgers, hotdogs, and ice-cold drinks, they were eager to talk up the trip to anyone who came by.

Students Shaye Sorenson (grade 7) and Jessie Colter (grade 11) had some help from other classmates and were pretty excited to be planning for the trip.

"Sightseeing, we're going to museums," said Colter. "I think we're going to  the Titanic Museum."

Some of the folks who were helping to fund the trip with their purchases of burgers were the members of the Cabri Market Car Show.

Mixed in amongst the other participants was Charlie John Pawluk, who lives in Cabri and brought his truck out for the show.

"It was harvest time, so not everyone's out here 'cause they're out in the field," said Pawluk. "This time was better with a couple of cars out and a couple of Rogue Cruisers came out too this time to cruise, so that was all nice."

Later in the night, everyone gathered again for an 8 p.m. showing of the Mario Movie in Lions Park.

For Bradford, the fact that so many came out for the movie was a sign they had picked the right film.

"Our Town Administrator has two sons, and they were very excited when they found out that this movie was coming out," said Bradford. "We thought we would get it to draw a larger crowd for kids.

Folks like Henry, a young man who was the first one to arrive, were eager to watch.

"Some people got to see it sooner, so I am gonna watch it now," said Henry.

After a few technical difficulties, the movie got underway under the stars.

The plan is to resume the Cabri Market next summer, with even more momentum. With the car show gaining popularity, and the market gaining ground, there is room for them to continue to expand.
