After a fire laid waste to the Stewart Valley School building, Chinook School Division released its statement.

The fire broke out Friday morning after lightning reportedly struck the building.

The blaze quickly swept through, leading to dramatic gouts of flames and smoke. 

The Chinook School Division, in its statement, says that the school building is a complete loss for the upcoming school year.

"This is a devastating and traumatic loss for our Stewart Valley School community," read the statement. "Chinook will be providing counselling and supports in the community for staff, students and school families."

The school divisions' Emergency Management Plan has been activated, seeking to come up with a plan for the displaced students and faculty for the coming school year. A total of 41 students were set to attend Stewart Valley School this year.

The Chinook School Division offers its gracious thanks to all the firefighters, emergency responders, volunteers and community members who lept into action during the fire. Thanks fully no one was hurt during the blaze.
