Downtown Swift Current will once again shine bright for the holiday season.

The City of Swift Current is once again hosting its annual Christmas Tree Lighting in Market Square. This year will feature some special guests throughout the evening as well.

The choir from Ecole Centennial School will be singing some Christmas carols for people to enjoy, bringing a tone of classic Christmas coziness.

Amy Collins is an art teacher at the French immersion school, and along with her students, is eager to perform classics and carols for people on the night of the event.

“It's so exciting,” cheered Collins. “[Especially] for their parents to come see the kids perform and just a chance to share music with the public.”

This will be the first time since 2019 live music will be available at the tree lighting. For last year’s performance, a recorded set of songs was used instead of live performers.

Other special guests for the night include Mr. And Mrs. Claus, who will be taking notes on who’s been naughty or nice. Amongst they will be keeping an eye will be the Swift Current Broncos, who will be helping with the festivities throughout the evening.

Folks who make their way to Market Square for the evening will be able to get their mittens on some free hot chocolate and treat bags.

The lights will begin twinkling at 7 p.m, with everyone in Swift Current invited to attend.
