Swift Current City Council officially voted on Friday to proceed with the 50/50 split with the Swift Current Broncos for the cost of the new video score clock at the Innovation Credit Union iPlex.

Though the 50-50 split had been discussed and known for a while, the City's report stated "a formal agreement needs to be entered into with the Bronco Hockey Club".

The agreement is set to last from March 10, 2020 to March 9, 2035 - a 15-year period that serves as the estimated lifespan of the video score clock.

The purchase price of the scoreboard is $286,809.50. Adding in the cost of the lexan - the protective material lining the screens - the total investment sits at $290,519.50.

That puts the 50-50 split at $145,259.75 apiece. The report notes the Broncos will be paying for their share upfront.

The video score clock serves as a capital project in the 'Partnership in Prosperity' Agreement between the City and Broncos - an agreement signed back in September, 2012.

The upgraded scoreboard has already notably been used for the Western Canada Summer Games, the CCA Finals Rodeo, World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, and entirety of the 2019-20 WHL season.
