A small update into the flood damages left in Swift Current.

The City of Swift Current has managed to identify a few key areas that will need to be rebuilt and repaired after the Swift Current Creek flooded earlier this year.

General Manager of Infrastructure and Operations for the City of Swift Current, Mitch Minken, briefly touched on the subject during an interview after city council's latest meeting.

"We're looking at some areas that are damaged and what the repair costs are going to be," said Minken. "So we want to put all that together.

The areas that the City has already pegged for work are Lee Bridge, the nearby pathway that was washed out, and some roads that were by the water's edge.

These highlighted areas are by no means final, with the City still examining the creek bank for other areas that the flood may have disturbed.

"We've also done a drone flight of the entire Creek through the city," shared Minken. "Which is just being analyzed right now to see other creek bank failures that we may have encountered."

A total dollar amount for the damages has yet to be tabulated. The City doesn't expect to receive help in covering the costs but will be applying what funds it can.
