Swift Current city council has released the details on the upcoming Municipal Election.

The election, which is set for Wednesday, November 13, 2024, will see a host of provisions being implemented to allow for a smooth voting process.

One of the key ones for Swift Current residents going into the polls will be the City providing free transit service on election day. This will ensure that everyone is able to come and vote, so long as they can make it to a transit station. The city will also be permitting mail-in ballots for those who are far from the City during the election.

Another decision that was made was to appoint Jackie Schlamp, city clerk for the City of Swift Current, as the Returning Officer in accordance with the City Administration Bylaw and the Local Government Election Act, 2015.

Schlamp will receive authority as it is transferred from city council to the Returning Officer for matters such as polling areas and locations, decisions on homebound voting, and emergency powers to temporarily postpone an election should a situation that warrants it arise.
