The City of Swift Current has announced that the intersection of Friesen Street and Third Avenue Southeast has been reopened.

 

Update 1 - 5:05 p.m.:

The City of Swift Current has issued an update on its social media.

The intersection on Friesen Street and Third Avenue Southeast has been closed until further notice while RCMP is in the area.

Motorists are asked to please take alternative routes around this incident. The same applies to pedestrians on foot or other means of travel. 

 

Original Story - 4:44 p.m.:

A collision today on the south side of Swift Current has sent a cyclist to the hospital.

At the intersection of Third Avenue Southeast and Friesen Street, a Chinook School Division van struck the bike rider, injuring them. 

Swift Current Fire Department Firefighters and Hutch Ambulance Paramedics responded, with RCMP on the scene. The individual was stabilized at the crash, before being taken to hospital. 

No comment was provided from any responders.
