A block of sidewalk in downtown Swift Current has been undergoing a major facelift recently.

The City of Swift Current had crews beginning the replacement of one side of the 200 Block on 1st Avenue Northeast on May 6.

General manager of Infrastructure and Operations for the City, Greg Parsons, said the project is coming along well.

"The concrete guys have been working there pretty steady," he said. "Once the paving stonework is complete ... they'll get that tidied up and get everybody back to being able to drive up and down the street.

The construction has not only restricted foot traffic on the west side of the street, but also vehicles as a portion of the gutters needed to be removed to put the forms in for the concrete. Following that will be gutter repair, which is standard procedure with a sidewalk replacement.

According to the City's website, the estimated time frame for completion is four weeks from the start date.
