Construction on a new storm system has begun on the Prairie Health Care Centre in Cabri to help with saturation and drainage issues along the grounds caused by higher amounts of ground water.

"It's long overdue, and we're just looking forward to having it completed and then next summer being able to enjoy the outdoors, and when it rains, not having to worry that if it's a big downpour that we're going to have water coming into the building," said Denise Levorson, the facility's Health Services Manager. "We've got the company out here tearing up alot of our outside area, because we're going to be putting weeping tile outside of the building and we're digging in three catch basins that are tied together, and that weeping tile will be trenched into those three catch basins so the water will drain away from the building. Once that's completed, then we'll be able to get back to getting our deck and our walkway and fence for our residents."

Levorson adds additional work to be done on the deck, fence, and walkways will continue upon completion of the new storm system.

The project of approximately $400,000 will be funded by the Cypress Health Region from the Ministry of Health's budget allotment that will target paving, concrete, landscaping, sod, and sprinkler installation costs.

Completion is anticipated by late spring or early summer of 2015.
