As spring in the southwest gives way to summer, Elmwood Golf Club in Swift Current is keen to inform the community about events and some fun new opportunities.

The nine-hole Monday men's night, 18-hole Wednesday men's nights, and nine and 18-hole ladies' night on Tuesday have already begun attracting golf enthusiasts out for the evening.

Carsen Schafer, one of the Pro Shop managers at Elmwood Golf Club, is excited to bring community members together to enjoy some time on the golf course and make the most of the season.

"We've got a lot of tournaments lined up for the summer including our Club Championships," he said. "Lots of Scrambles throughout the season, including the RBC Scramble coming up on June 14 and we're only currently at four registered teams and need ten to qualify for the event."

Registration for the RBC PGA Scramble closes on Wednesday, June 5 and interested teams of four over the age of 19 with a Golf Canada handicap can sign up at rbcpgascramble.com.

As a new feature this year, the golf course holds a weekly 50/50 draw that takes place every Sunday. Tickets are $20 a week or people can sign up for a subscription for each week.

"Proceeds are going towards new developments around the course as well as new mats to cover our greens during the winter to help keep them safer and looking greener for future seasons," Schafer said.

He noted that last week's winner of the 50/50 draw took home $900 and the prize pot will go up as more people participate.

Additionally, Elmwood is now offering discounts to organizations of teams of twelve or more as well as hosting Local Business Golf Night on Thursday or Friday evening where non-members of the golf club receive a lowered green fee of $40 for a cart seat and nine holes.

"We're also opening up a ton of new sponsorship opportunities for the golf course for local businesses around town with things like golf cart decals, ad pop-ups on our new app, range dividers, and more," added Schafer.

Everyone is encouraged to enjoy the golf course and anyone interested in the various opportunities can email proshop@elmwoodgc.com or call them at (306) 778 - 4653 for more information.
