Family Fun Week is fast approaching, with the City of Swift Current planning plenty of fun for locals.

Running from Feb. 19 - 25, the whole week will feature games, activities, and events for families to attend around Swift Current.

Helping organize everything once again this year is Val Choo Foo, in motion community facilitator for the City of Swift Current.

"We are super excited for our annual Family Fun Week," said Choo Foo. "It's going to run during the Feb. school break, and there's lots of great fun family activities for everyone to come out and enjoy."

Monday will start things off with a Family Skate at the InnovationPlex. This is being hosted by both the Innovation Federal Credit Union and the Pioneer Co-op. It's running 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.

"They're also going to have some yummy hot dog combos for $3 and some great chances to win some prizes," said Choo Foo.

Tuesday looks like a chance for the swimming enthusiast in the family to have a great time. The Aquatic Centre will be open and hosting a family swim from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will be free for all youth under 14 years old.

"That's because of the generous support of the Kiwanis Club of Swift Current," credited Choo Foo.

Anyone looking to learn to curl, for free, will be able to head to the Swift Current Curling Club on Wednesday. People are asked to please bring clean footwear, with helmets being recommended.

"The equipment will be provided if they need it, as well as some snacks," said Choo Foo.

Wednesday will also see the Swift Current Branch Library opening its doors with various activities throughout the day.

Thursday is when the Library will really get going. Starting at 10 a.m., they will have a preschool storytime adventure. Thursday will also see the Aquatic Centre opening up again from 7 - 8 p.m.

Friday resumes a tiny-tots session at the Library. Saturday, the City encouraging everyone to join in for the Coldest Night of the Year at The Center.

"This is to raise some very important funds to support their counselling and mentoring programs," said Choo Foo. "If anyone is interested in getting a team together, or even if they don't get a team you can donate, that would be fantastic."

Sunday ends all the fun of Family Fun Week with cross-country skiing and snowshoeing at the Chinook Golf Course from 1 - 5 p.m. Equipment will be available at the golf course, with families able to come out to meet a special sled dog team attending for the day.

"Also some hot chocolate, fire pits, and hopefully good snow conditions and weather that will cooperate so that we can have that fun event," said Choo Foo. "So yeah, lots of great things going on in our community during Family Fun Week."
