Patchy fog and freezing drizzle are occurring over the southwest today, prompting Environment and Climate Change Canada to issue an advisory.

The freezing rain is expected to taper off tonight, but highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.

The ECCC advises drivers to slow down in slippery conditions, watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance.

Freezing drizzle advisories are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures is expected to freeze on contact, and over time create icy surfaces.
