A former Swift Current mayor and city councillor has passed away.

Len Stein served 22 years on council and four terms as the City's mayor from 1980-82 and 1986-94.

The City of Swift Current passed along its condolences to the family and friends of Stein on a social media post while also highlighting some of his work including the Chinook Golf Course and Elmwood Golf Course.

"With gratitude for his service to his community and the lasting impact his life made in Swift Current, we express our deepest sympathies," the City ended their post with.

Stein and his family donated $250,000 to the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation in the spring of 2016 allowing the non-profit to furnish and equip one of the 22 homes inside The Meadows.

A prayer service will be held for him tomorrow night beginning at 8 p.m. at Christ The Redeemer Roman Catholic Church. The funeral service for Stein will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. from the Christ The Redeemer Roman Catholic Church.
