Swift Current is set to get a brief break from the frigid temperatures in the area as today's high is expected to reach 3 C. With that being said, a health care professional is warning residents due to more dangerous temperatures in the area's forecast.

Dr. David Torr is with the Saskatchewan Health Authority, and issued a warning about the predicted drop, indicating that frostbite risks will be present.

He said that if you are in a situation where you are at a risk of frostbite, there are some warning signs to look out for.

"If you feel that numbness and then you see a lot of discoloration or persistent swelling, that is certainly an indicator for you to seek medical attention."

He said that a method which could make you less susceptible to frostbite revolves around diet.

According to Torr, if you eat and drink in the morning, it will increase your metabolism and your body heat.

The coldest that Swift Current is forecasted to be in the next seven days is -31 C during Monday night.
