The Swift Current Fire Department responded to a fire Sunday shortly before lunch.

At 11:14 a.m, the crews were dispatched to the call that was reported on the 800 block of 5th Avenue Northeast.

The fire in question was a structure fire, blazing through a detached garage.

Swift Current Fire Department Fire Chief, Ryan Hunter, was not on the scene with the crew but relayed what occurred.

"They arrived on scene and it was through the sidewalls already and flames going up to the roof," said Hunter.

The responding firefighters first sprayed the house with foam to prevent the fire from spreading to the home.

From there, they were able to beat back the blaze, extinguishing the fire. The garage, which had already been spitting fire out the top, is still being investigated for the cause of the fire.
