Gorephers Final Gnaw debuted being locally made, locally acted, and locally loved.

Lucky Charlies in Swift Current was packed to bursting as people came out for the latest and possibly greatest in Devon Oman's Dead Prairies Productions horror movie catalogue.

The third installment in the franchise of rodent-riddled horror films saw a reboot of the story. This enabled new fans to jump into the film without being required to have seen the first two films in the trilogy.

Devon Oman, writer, director, and producer of Gorephers Final Gnaw, was moved nearly to tears by the roaring applause he received at the end of the film.

"It's wild hearing that much applause, people laughing and all that," said Oman. "It makes me emotional cause I made this film with a bunch of great people in my life."

Without giving too much away, the movie follows a plot that reveals the creation of the Gorephers, the search for a mad scientist's victims, and the gruesome rampage of the devious rodents.

For Oman, this more comedic approach to horror was a great chance to show off the genre to a more casual audience.

"I find if you do number three, some people might not watch number one and two and they're like, 'Wait a minute. What's going on here?'," said Oman. "So I was like, you know what, let's do a remake, but make it funny."

Oman was able to show off a few bloopers to the crowd of around 130 at Lucky Charlie's once the movie ended. In those outtakes, many joyous bouts of laughter were had not only by the audience but by the crew and actors in them. The whole experience was a focal point for film lovers to come together and share a love for regional filmmaking.

"Even if you have a lower amount of money, I feel like there are creative enough people out there that can make so much happen with even $100," said Oman.

All the proceeds from the premier and from any of Dead Prairies Productions sales will, as always, go to the Swift Current SPCA. Oman encourages people to show support to the SPCA by donating themselves, or by purchasing Dead Prairies Productions merchandise.
